A lot of us Latinas like to believe we're pros when it comes to beauty, but the truth is we've all had our fair share of mistakes–celebrities included! Can we say caked on makeup anyone? Come on, we've all stepped out at some point or another with our dark roots exposed, wrong foundation color on, or gone all drag queen with the faux lashes. Ugh, that one's the worst! But don't beat yourself up about it, every Latina has been there!

Sometimes all we need is a good amiga to let us know what we're doing wrong and that's where I come in. Luckily, with every beauty mistake comes a fix. Here are nine common Latina beauty mistakes we've all made with their solutions!

Wrong foundation

Naya Rivera's foundation color makes her naturally tan complexion look completely washed out. To avoid a mistake like this, head to your nearest beauty department store and grab three different bottles that are closest to your skin tone. Test them out on your jaw line and make sure the color also matches your neck.
Too tinted eyebrows

Big, bold brows may be in, but that doesn't mean you should over do it like Demi Lovato did either. Take an eyebrow pencil and gently fill in where needed. Comb over with a brow brush so that the color doesn't appear too dark.
Extra long hair

Latinas like Kat Deluna love super long hair. But whether it's natural or not, tresses that reach your butt look shapeless and unkempt. If you want to grow out your hair or rock long extensions, aim for a length that doesn't hit past the waist line. And add layers to give it form and volume.
Dramatic faux lashes

We all love falsies, but dramatically long ones like Christina Aguilera's could wind up looking more drag queen-ish than glamorous. For a more natural look, try individual faux lashes instead, like Ardell Durlash Individual lashes ($4). Use mascara to get them to blend in with your natural lashes.
Caked makeup

Foundation should look natural, not caked on like Adrienne Bailon has here. Try applying a liquid formula to your face using a sponge application, like the Beauty Blender ($20). It makes makeup look like second skin!
Wrong concealer

When I first laid eyes on these pictures of Christina Milian wearing the wrong concealer, I instantly sympathized. It's not always easy finding a color that works for medium or dark complexions. The trick is to ONLY go one shade lighter than your natural color.
Over the top smoky eyes

I think every Latina I know is obsessed with smoky eyes. Soften the look by blending charcoal colors with lighter grays. Zoe Saldana's black lids look too intense.
Roots showing

Jessica Alba's dark roots should not be mistaken with the whole ombre look. No time to schedule a touch up? Use a root concealer, like Rita Hazan Root Concealer ($25) in between appointments.
Unflattering lip color

A lot women think just because a lip color is on trend, they can rock it. That's a definite no-no! Always choose a color that flatters your features and skin tone best. Selena Gomez would have looked best with a red-ish burgundy shade.
