Let's face it–nothing looks better than a flawless even complexion. But unfortunately, uneven skin, hyperpigmentation, and pesky dark manchas is a problem a lot of us Latinas (especially with medium and dark skin) struggle with. Remove buildup
If you don't exfoliate, chances are your face is filled with dead skills that are clogging your pores and causing breakouts. For a fresh, glowy complexion try removing makeup, buildup, and excess oil from your face with the Clarisonic Mia2 Deep Pore Detoxifying Kit ($169). After just a few days of using this miracle device my skin looked instantly brighter!
Use a scrub
Try a gentle facial scrub, like the Olay Fresh Effects Bead Me Up Exfoliating Cleanser ($6). It's gentle enough to use every day without creating manchas or irritation.
Apply plenty of SPF
Blotchy skin tones and brown spots are a result of frequent sun exposure. To avoid more from popping up, make sure to apply sunscreen religiously. I recommend a lightweight facial lotion that already contains SPF, like Cetaphil Oil Control Moisturizer SPF 30 ($14).
Consider BB cream
Try a color correcting formula, like Tarte Amazonian Clay BB Tinted Moisturizer SPF 20 ($36). It provides light to medium coverage, moisturizes skin, and diffuses the appearance of dark spots.
Treat spots
Whatever you do, don't EVER pick at your skin! This causes annoying pimples to turn into dark blemishes or even worse–scar! To remove those troubled spots try a treatment, like Murad Rapid Age Spot and Pigment Lightening Serum ($60).
Try a serum
I owe my even complexion, to the Lancome DreamTone Customized Skin Tone Correcting Serum ($98). It treats pigmentation problems and reduces pores in a matters of days.
See a doctor
If your dark spots are severe, try scheduling an appointment with your dermatologist. A prescription medication might work better on your skin than over-the-counter products. Talk to them about hydroquinone cream, which is used to even out pigmentation.
