Get rid of split ends for good with these 5 easy tricks

If you have long hair you know that split ends many times comes with the territory. And apparently that's exactly what inspired the new hot scissors trend. Yes you heard right, there are now hot, cutting-edge (pun intended) hair shears that supposedly help leave your ends smooth and your hair looking healthier and more voluminous. In fact, a few celebrity stylists, like Arsen Gurgov from the Louis Licari salon in N.Y.C., swear by them!

"Once you have split ends, you're kind of forced to cut your hair again," Gurgov told the NY Daily News. "And most people want it long." So for that reason he uses the hot scissor technique which allows his clients to grow long hair without the wispy strands and the breakage.

So how do these scissors work exactly? Well sort of like a curling iron. They look just like any other pair of barber's shears only with a small black box that's used to adjust the temperature settings. The scissors can heat up to 310 degrees. But don't worry, they won't damage your hair. The truth is, the more damaged your ends are, the higher the temperature they need. They actually help seal your hair's ends to retain moisture.

But beware: A haircut at a salon that uses these secret weapons will cost you a pretty penny. At Louis Licari, it runs about $350 for cuts using the hot scissors compared to $145 for regular cuts. Whoa …  Luckily there are other products out there that can give you healthy ends that won't cost you a fortune. Thank goodness! Check out a few of them below!
