Save or splurge? Nail polish removers are put to the test

I'll be the first to admit I'm not too fussy when it comes to my nails. But one thing I can't stand is sporting chipped polish–I'd rather rock bare nails for days before walking around with ugly chipped nails. I've noticed that a lot of the nail polish removers I've bought at drugstores don't do that great of a job, and when they do they leave my hands SUPER dry!

So is it worth it to spend more on fancier nail polish removers that are packed with natural ingredients? I wasn't too sure, so I tested out the Sally Hansen Moisturizing Nail Color Remover ($3) against the pricer Priti NYC Soy Nail Polish Remover with Lemongrass Scent ($12). Read on to find out who the winner of our test was!

I normally never spend over $5 on a bottle of polish remover, but the Priti NYC Soy Nail Polish Remover claimed to be organic, so I gave it a try. Unlike most removers, this one didn't overwhelm me with that acetone scent, but instead had a soft lemongrass fragrance that actually smelled pretty good. That was the first plus. It was smooth on my nails and left my hands soft and moisturized. But let me tell you, that polish took forever to come off! Like I was really starting to lose my patience (and cool)!

The Sally Hansen Moisturizing Nail Color Remover surprised me. Even though it looked just like any other nail polish remover, the Vitamin E-infused and acetone-free polish was pretty gentle on my skin and left it smooth and soft. Of course it didn't smell nearly as great as the Priti NYC remover, but it didn't smell like crazy chemicals either. Best part? The polish came off quickly and easily!

At the end of the day, all I want is a remover that's going to easily remove my polish without leaving my hands dry and my nails brittle. The Sally Hansen Moisturizing Nail Color Remover did that and more. It actually left my hands almost as soft as the pricier one–and all for less than $5. I honestly couldn't ask for more!
