Moisturize

Don’t even think about applying makeup before slathering on some moisturizer. Skin that’s well hydrated looks instantly fresher and more youthful. It also helps makes for smoother makeup application.
Go lighter

If you’re already starting to experience fine lines and wrinkles, opt for a lightweight liquid foundation. Thick formulas and pressed powders tend to settle into wrinkles, making you look older. Try a luminescent tinted moisturizer that’s going to leave your skin smooth and glowy. I love Laura Mercier Tinted Moisturizer SPF 20 ($44). Apply using a damp sponge for a more natural looking finish.
Warm up

Skin becomes lighter and more translucent with age, so look for a foundation in a shade darker than your old one. Your skin will look warmer and more radiant.
Conceal

Concealer might be made to cover, but the wrong one can draw attention to tired eyes and lines. You want to look for a lightweight one that’s going to help hide dark circles, manchas, and redness without settling into wrinkles or highlighting flaws. Try a gel-based concealer, like Chanel Correcteur Perfection ($42). It goes on smooth, brightens dark spots, and minimizes imperfections without getting cakey.
Wake up eyes

Curling your lashes is one of the easiest ways to make eyes look more open and awake. Squeeze an eyelash curler at your upper lash line for 4 or 5 pumps, and then seal the curl with two coats of a lengthening and volumizing mascara that won’t clump, like CoverGirl LashBlast Clump Crusher Mascara ($7). I also like to trace my lower eyelids with a dark pencil liner because it makes my eyes look larger—therefore younger, too!
Get flushed

Avoid heavy blush powders, and look for a creamy formula instead that’s going to moisturize skin and naturally sculpt and highlight cheeks. I love the Smashbox LA Lights Blendable Lip and Cheek Color($29). It leaves skin with a fresh flush and a healthy glow!
Plump lips

As we get older our lips start to fade and thin. For a perkier looking pout, try tracing your lips with a clear lip liner to help create a more defined lip line. Try a lip-plumping gloss that’s going to leave lips moisturized and fuller-looking. I like Dior Addict Lip Maximizer High Volume Lip Plumper ($33).
