As much as I love summer, one thing I definitely dread is the humidity. Believe me, this is every curly haired chica' worst nightmare. My blowouts don't last and my curls proof and frizz up in the middle of the day. So what's a girl to do? Well I normally resort to coating my strands before and after styling with a little bit of anti-frizz hair serum. But lately I've been finding myself spending way to much money on these hair products.
Is it really necessary to spend big bucks on an anti-frizz serum that actually works? I wasn't sure, so I tested out the Kerastase Oleo Relax Anti-frizz Serum ($32) against the cheaper Garnier Fructis Sleek & Shine Anti-Frizz Serum ($7). Read on to find out which one did the trick!

I started using the Kerastase Oleo Relax Anti-Frizz serum a few months ago and was incredibly impressed by the results. So I decided to try it out now to see if it could withstand all the heat and humidity we've been experiencing in New York lately. I added a pea size amount to my ends while my hair was still damp and then a little more after blow-drying. It was actually raining outside that day and the blow-out stayed pretty intact, frizz free, and super shiny. The best part is that it's so light it didn't weigh down my hair or leave it oily. My only complaint is the price.
I recently decided to give the Garnier Fructis Sleek & Shine Anti-Frizz Serum ($7) a shot and was pretty surprised by the results. I applied it the same way I did with the Kerastase one and was amazed at how shiny this argan-oil infused product left my strands. It also left my hair incredibly soft. The results were so similar it almost doesn't make sense to spend more.
I think it's pretty obvious which serum won here. In the end I definitely have to go with the Garnier Fructis Sleek & Shine Anti-Frizz Serum, it gave me almost identical results to the Kerastase with the additional benefit of nourishing and softening my hair which tend to get kind of dry during the summer. See ladies you can fight frizz on a budget!
