Save or splurge? Waterproof eyeliners are put to the test

Anyone that knows me well, knows that I rarely ever leave the house without eyeliner on. In fact, even on my bare-faced days, I always make sure to at least line my bottom eyelid rims with some black pencil liner. It's such an easy way to brighten my eyes in the morning and look a little more awake.

But nothing gets me more irritated than when my liner runs down my face whenever it's hot and humid out. That's why I try to invest in good waterproof eyeliners, but some of them could get pricey. So I decided to do a little exploring and see if I could find a cheap one that still get the job done. I tested out my favorite eyeliner pencil, Urban Decay 24/7 Glide-On Pencil Eyeliner ($19) against the more affordable CoverGirl Liquiline Blackfire Blast Eyeliner ($7). Find out who made the cut below!

The first time I tried the Urban Decay 24/7 Glide-On Pencil Eyeliner I fell in love. I bought it the first time before heading to Miami. Even though I'm not one to wear makeup at the beach, like I mentioned before, I don't like to go ANYWHERE without eyeliner. But since it claims to be waterproof, I traced some on before hitting the waves. I was amazed to discover that after hours of swimming my eyeliner was still perfectly intact. Crazy, right? It's rare I find a pencil eyeliner that's able to beat these benefits.

So of course I didn't have the highest expectations for the CoverGirl Liquiline Blackfire Blast Eyeliner. But for less than 10 bucks I figured I couldn't go wrong. I liked how the texture was just as creamy and smooth as the Urban Decay liner. This waterproof liner stayed on for hours and looked great. Even though it never ran down my face, it did eventually fade away after a few hours. If I have to reapply my eyeliner throughout the day, then it's not THAT great of any eyeliner to begin with.

In the end, I have to go with my Urban Decay gem. It does everything I need an eyeliner to do and works even when I'm sweating during a hot yoga class or swimming at the beach. But I have to admit, I really was sort of hoping the cheaper one would give me the same results. Oh well, you get what you pay for sometimes!
