Is it OK for guys to wear makeup now?

You're not going to believe it ladies, but it looks like more and more men are wearing makeup these days. I'm not referring to cross-dressers or drag queens, I'm talking about regular guys playing up their faces with skincare products and cosmetics in efforts to look their best.

In fact, according to a marketing data company known as __Euromonitor Internationa__l $5 billion dollars were spent last year on men's grooming products. That's more than double how much was spent back in 1997. So is men wearing makeup no longer a taboo?

If you really think about it, it kind of makes sense. As women we wear makeup to hide our imperfections and put our best face forward, whether it's to get the attention of a man, to land a job, or just because we want to look and feel prettier. So why wouldn't men want to do the same? And I'm not even talking about just makeup, I mean grooming products in general. If a guy is struggling with dark circles, blemishes, uneven skin, or wrinkles, why wouldn't he want to slap on some anti-aging cream? After all, I don't know about you but I'm always especially drawn to those tall, handsome pretty boys with smooth and even complexions.

Let's face it—beauty is power and if you feel confident you'll carry yourself with confidence and you'll gain a ton of respect whether it's in your professional or personally life. Heck, I'm totally that chick that gets the guy she's dating eye cream and moisturizer with SPF. Can't have the man you're dating walking around with puffing eyes and uneven skin my friends. It's just not a good look!

Whatever you do though, it might want to refrain from refrain from calling it makeup in front of them. You know how men are. Call it grooming products or anything else but makeup As a matter of fact, most of the tinted moisturizers, BB creams and concealers out there targeted specifically for men are referred to as "Men's grooming" products. I mean honestly, do you think they would actually buy them if they were called anything else?

Listen, I'm all for a guy who isn't afraid of polishing up his look. As long as it's done in moderation and as long as he's not reaching over for MY mascara or eyeliner because that's when we'll have a problem!
