Jennifer Lopez teaches us how NOT to do the sheer trend (PHOTOS)

Jennifer Lopez__ was spotted the other day leaving a N.Y.C. hotel wearing a sheer floral blouse paired with fitted cream trousers. What could have technically been a super sophisticated outfit resulted in a serious fashion miss, because the only thing anyone noticed was the pop star's visible nude bra. I'm not going to lie, this didn't exactly come to me as a surprise. After all, J.Lo is kind of known for her super racy ensembles. I mean who could forget that green plunging Versace number she wore to the 2000 Grammy Awards?

But even so, this is just NOT how you wear sheer. I actually really like the sheer trend because it's a fun way to look sexy without having to show too much skin. There are definitely ways to pull off this tricky style but still look classy in the process. Here are a few of my tips on how to wear sheer pieces well!

If you’re going for a completely sheer blouse, consider layering it over a skin-toned camisole or a spaghetti strap bodysuit. This look works for practically any occasion from the office, to an after work event, or even your kid’s birthday party. Urbanoutfitters.com, $30

Stick to one sheer piece

If you’re wearing a sheer blouse, I suggest you forget about pairing it with sheer pants. The trick to making this look work is finding a balance. Try wearing a solid-colored sheer blouse with a pair of printed pants like these for a cool and casual look. Asos.com, $77

Keep it simple
