Is there really such thing as being TOO good looking? Apparently so, because three men from the United Arab Emirates were recently evicted by Saudi religious police during an annual cultural festival in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia just because "they were too handsome." I guess being beautiful isn't always a good thing. How crazy is this?

According to Emirates 24/7, Saudi Arabian authorities took the three men because they were "too handsome" and were afraid that the female visitors would fall for them. In fact, the report mentioned that the "festival's management took urgent measures to deport the three to Abu Dhabi." Geez, where they really that hot?
Oh and it doesn't end there. A Saudi cop also stormed the UAE booth because he was captivated by a beautiful Emirati female artist there. Apparently her visit was not previously arranged and she had gone to the UAE by "coincidence." There's a video from YouTube that actually shows the mayhem as the national guard members from the festival evicting the Saudi cop after reportedly storming the stand. It got so crazy that it caused a very public outcry in the Middle East, leading the Commission Chairman, Abdul Latif Al Shaikh, to call for an investigation. Yes, it was that serious!
There's a reason why women, even foreign women in the Middle East, must cover themselves in public. Beauty is something that's not supposed to be displayed in public. And I guess in some cases, the rule even applies to men. What a drastic difference from the way we think in the states or even in Latin America. In fact, for us, beauty almost translates into power. You're told growing up if you're beautiful you'll live an easier life.
I have tía who growing up was told she was ugly, so she had to work extra hard at school because since she was nowhere near as pretty as my mom and her other sister, the only way she was going to get married was if she was successful. I'm not saying that I agree with this kind of mentality, quite the contrary! As much as I believe looking your best can positively affect a woman's self-esteem, I do think that what's inside is always WAY more important. This just shows that your looks can either work to your benefit or be your biggest disadvantage ever. Either way, make sure you still focus on what's inside, because that's what really counts!
