Anyone that knows me well knows I rarely leave the house without my signature cat-eye. It's my go-to eye makeup look, simply because it instantly makes my eyes look bright and wide-awake without having to really do much else. But I have to warn you, chicas, this isn't the easiest look to pull off. In fact, for years I've been cheating by using precision point liquid liners, until I discovered that gel eyeliners hold for much, MUCH longer. So I decided to finally give them a chance and tested out the cult favorite, Bobbi Brown Long-Wear Gel Eyeliner ($23) versus the more affordable L'Oréal Paris Infallible Lacquer Liner 24 H ($10). The Bobbi Brown Long-Wear Gel Eyeliner really is as amazing as they say. No wonder it's award-winning! The creamy gel formula allows for easy and smooth application, but gives you the look of a liquid liner. I applied it on by dipping the tip of a very fine eyeliner brush, then quickly (and carefully) gliding it on my upper eye lash lines, and creating the wing at the corner of my eyes. The liner dries almost instantly without any smear. Best part? It stays on all day, no matter what!
The L'Oréal Paris Infallible Lacquer Liner gave me some pretty surprising results. Like the Bobbi Brown liner, this one also went on very smoothly resulting in a very neat and precise application. I actually really loved how this liner comes complete with its very own eyeliner brush. It saves you time and money on having to go buy one. Definitely a plus! It also stayed on for hours, even after having accidently rubbed my eyes. I'm a contact lens user, so I have that terrible habit. While the formula didn't look as liquidy and perfect as the Bobbi Brown one, the results were amazingly similar. And for only $10 bucks you really can't go wrong, right?
Overall, I have to admit that the L'Oréal Paris eyeliner provided me with pretty impressive results. I really didn't expect the formula to go on so smoothly, look so neat and precise, and last almost as long as the Bobbi Brown one. Seriously, how often do you find a drugstore liner that works almost if not just as well as a luxury department store one? Um … never! As much as I LOVE the Bobbi Brown one and would still totally add another one to my makeup collection, I think the L'Oréal Paris liner is definitely a steal. If I wasn't such a makeup hoarder I'd probably never buy another gel eyeliner other than this one again. So I think my decision here is pretty obvious by now, because L'Oréal Paris provided such similar results for such a nifty price, it totally wins!
