Save or splurge? Should you spend more on a heat-protecting hair spray?

It's ridiculous how loose my curls have gotten from all the constant blow outs I've been receiving lately. Its true, chicas: constant heat styling can seriously damage your hair, leaving it dry, split and even limpy (like mine). Even so, I still refuse to stop using the blow-dryer or curling iron, so I decided to FINALLY start prepping my hair with a heat protecting spray. Any hairstylist or expert would tell you that this is the only way you can really protect your hair from heat styling. I wanted to look for a heat styling product that wouldn't just prevent my hair from frying, but that would also boost shine, prevent frizz, and leave my hair super smooth. I tested out Morrocanoil's Heat Styling Protection Spray ($28) against the more affordable, John Frieda Full Repair Style Revival Heat-Activated Styling Spray ($10). Who won? Read on to find out!

Moroccanoil Heat Styling Protection Spray did so much more than just defend my hair from the heat. I had my Dominican stylist lightly spray some onto small sections of my wet hair before blow-drying, without applying any other product. I couldn't believe how smooth and sleek this spray left my blow out. My hair was so soft and so shiny, it looked like I had done some kind of damage repair hair conditioning mask! FYI: This is the perfect pick for those of you who dye your hair. It helps prevent color fading.

The John Frieda Full Repair Style Revival Heat-Activated Styling Spray was also a pretty amazing product. Ironically enough, this one not only left my hair soft, shiny, and protected but full of bounce too!  I also had this spray applied to wet hair before blow drying and it left my strands sexy and voluminous. I have to admit that I definitely was NOT expecting that.

In the end, I honestly don't think I can just go with one. This is definitely a fair draw. If you're looking for a smooth, sleek protected blow out than I'd go for the Moroccanoil spray. But if you're looking to give your hair some lift (while protecting it from heat) I have to recommend the John Frieda one. It's really depends on what you're looking for!
