Save or splurge? Hi-tech concealers are put to the test

When it comes to concealer, I'm super picky. I have found very few that work for both my dark circles and that perfectly cover any pesky blemishes or acne. For years I've only used luxury brand concealers, especially because, let's face it__, it's not always easy to find concealer that matches my tan skin!__

A great concealer does it all and leaves you with a flawless complexion. Some say it's even more important than foundation itself. Luckily, I don't suffer from acne or anything like that, but like most women I do experience occasional breakouts. And since I'm always looking for a beauty bargain, I decided to test out the affordable new Revlon PhotoReady Concealer ($10) against the more expensive Bobbi Brown Face Touch up Stick ($24). Which one was better? Read on to find out!

I started with the Revlon concealer, which worked surprisingly well. Because my skin tends to be so dry during the winter, most concealers look too matte or even chalky on me. But this moisturizing (non-greasy) formula not only matched my skin tone, but went on pretty smooth. It also did a pretty good job at covering my dark circles, which I don't normally experience unless I'm low on sleep. Even so, it's good to know that on those days, I have a good concealer to make me appear well rested. I dabbed some on my blemishes after having applied foundation and my skin looked smooth and flawless! The only thing I didn't like is how it wore away by the end of the day. Even though it did last a good couple of hours, but by the time I got out of work I had to reapply.

The next day I tried out the Bobbi Brown Face Touch Up Stick which also did a really great job at brightening my eyes and covering any redness or blemishes on my face. I loved its creamy consistency, but what I LOVED even more was how long it lasted. I applied it during the day and it literally stayed on throughout my dinner plans.

So in the end I have to go with the Bobbi Brown concealer because it gave me the exact results that I wanted and even though it's formulated to only cover imperfections, redness, and blemishes, it actually wonderfully covered my dark circles. It left my skin smooth and it lasted for hours. And honestly, what more could you ask for in a concealer?
