Cleanse: Start off by removing all makeup and cleansing your face with a good facial cleanser. I also like to use a cleansing brush, like the Clarisonic Aria Sonic Skin Cleansing Brush ($200). This deeply cleanses skin and prepares it for better absorption of treatments, serums and moisturizers.

Exfoliate: Rub a gentle facial scrub using a small circular motion all over your face. This will help to gently eliminate dead, flaky skin cells and  brighten your complexion. Make sure you focus on the pesky areas around your nose, forehead and chin, where skin tends to be more oily. Try Fresh Sugar Face Polish ($55). I usually also like to scrub my lips as well. I love Sara Happ The Lip Scrub in Brown Sugar ($24).

Steam: The safest way to steam your face is using the old washcloth trick. Soak a washcloth or face towel in very warm water. Then squeeze and press it on your face for a few minutes. This helps to open up your pours.

Apply mask: The type of mask you apply depends on your skin type. If you suffer from dry skin during the winter use a hydrating mask, like Kate Somerville Quench Hydrating Mask ($45). For oily, acne prone skin try a clay mask, like Fresh Umbrian Clay Mask Treatment ($48). Believe me this one really does the trick! Leave your mask on for 5-10 minutes or depending on the recommended time. Then remove it by washing it off with a warm, wet washcloth.

Tone: I usually like to follow with a toner to gently sooth and moisturize my skin. I love Melvita Lavender Floral Water ($22). It works great on all skin types.

Moisturize: Apply a light, hydrating moisturizer all over your face and neck to help lock in moisture and to keep skin hydrated. Try Bobbi Brown Hydrating Face Cream ($55).
