The truth is we don't always have the time to wash and style our hair every morning. I know I don't! But in case you didn't know, not-washed hair is actually ideal for hairstyles because it holds much better and longer than when it's clean. It's also pretty convenient on those days you're super short on time or you're having one of those less than stellar hair days. The trick to not having to wash your hair everyday is knowing how to style it. Check out a few of my favorite hairstyles to sport with dirty hair!

Top knot

This edgy updo is super easy to do. Begin by pulling hair into a slicked back ponytail. Then pull it through a donut shaped bunmaker and wrap the ponytail around it. Secure with bobby pins.
High ponytail

Turn head upside down, gather hair into a high ponytail and secure with a clear elastic. Tame frizz and flyways with a smoothing hair serum, like Paul Mitchel Super Skinny Serum ($19).
Braided headband

Pull your hair back into a bun leaving sections of hair out in the front to create the braids. Create two tight braids at the front of your head and secure with pins after draping across your head. Finish off with a few spritzes of a strong hold hairspray to keep the look in place. I like Aveda Control Force Firm Hold Hair Spray ($26).
Low bun

Take hair and pull it into a low ponytail right at the nape of your neck and secure with a clear elastic. Then twist the bun into a spiral shape and hold with bobby pins. Keep the front sleek and polished.
Side braid

Part hair to one side and then, as you pull it over to the opposide side, make sure to smooth the front layer diagonally across your forehead. Make a loose 3-strand braid, allowing shorter pieces to fall out. Then tie the braid at the end using an elastic.
