Try a moisturizing shampoo

For hair that glistens, cleanse with an oil-based shampoo, like Shu Uemura Art of Hair Cleansing Oil Shampoo ($55). This moisturizing formula effectively removes any product buildup from the scalp that causes hair to dull, without stripping it of its natural oils.
Do an oil treatment

During the winter we tend to abuse our hair with heat and over-styling. Try nourishing your strands with an oil treatment, like Josie Maran Hot Oil Self-heating Hair Treatment ($36). This gentle formula is infused with argan oil and vitamin E that works to reverse damage and leave hair smoother, shiner and stronger.
Repair while you iron

Most flatirons can leave ends split and fried, but the One n’ Only Argan Ceramic Straightening Iron ($60) includes plates coated with argan oil that works to moisturize hair and amp up the shine while you straighten.
Schedule regular trims

A regular snip (even if it’s only a quarter inch) helps to remove split ends that makes hair look dull. Trying getting your ends trimmed at least every six weeks.
Stop with hot water

As tempting as it may be, try to avoid taking hot showers even during the winter. Hot water not only dries strands, but over time can cause it to start thinning out. Try washing with luke-warm water instead. Believe me, your hair will thank you!
Add a shining serum

Shining products are great for adding some extra gleam to your tresses. If you have fine, thin hair try a light spray formula that won’t weight your strands down, like John Frieda Frizz Ease 100% Shine Mist ($6). For thick or dry hair, work a pea-sized amount of a hair serum that includes a gloss-boosting ingredient like argan oil. I like Sally Hershberger Hyper Hydration Super Argan Serum ($15).
Don't leave the house with wet hair

I used to do this all the time, because I air dry my curls. But stepping out with damp hair when it’s cold out can lead to breakage. Consider washing and styling your hair the night before if you can’t manage to make enough time to dry in the morning. If you have curly hair like me, attach a diffuser to your blow dryer. This will dry your curls in less than 15 minutes without the frizz.
