While all the buzz seems to still be on this season's oxblood red pouts, I thought it would be fun to take a look at some of the beauty trends that we can expect to see come March. If there's one thing we can certainly look forward to this spring, it's colorful makeup–everything from sky blue eye shadow to bold (but wearable) hot pink lipstick. So if you're like me and already wondering how you're going to do your makeup this spring and summer, take a sneak peak at some of these trends, along with tips on how to make them work for you.

Copper eyeshadow

After the holiday season feel free to put away your shimmery gold shadows and replace them with a more romantic shade like copper. This hue looks especially great on medium and dark skin tones. I love NARS Duo Eyeshadow in Isolde ($34). Add a black kohl liner to your upper and lower lash lines to add more definition.
Red matte lipstick

Red lipstick will always be in style, but next year it’s going to be all about bold red shades with matte finishes, like Dior Rouge Voluptous Care Lipstick in Ara Red ($32). To keep the focus on your lips, pair it with a light neutral shadow.
Platinum eye shadow

Platinum eye shadows were seen on the models at Chanel’s Spring 2013 Fashion Week show. The cool thing about this color is that it makes eyes look big and open. For fair skin tones, try Elle Cosmetics Eyeshadow in 21 ($16). For medium and dark complexions, apply the platinum shade as your base color and then layer it with a smoky gray shade, like Jane Iredale PurePressed Eye Shadow in Smoky Grey ($19).
Sky blue eye shadow

To prevent this cool shade from looking too 80s, wear it as an eyeliner instead of all over your lids. I like Make Up For Ever Eyeshadow in Pearly Turquoise Blue ($20).The turqouise tint looks better on warm skin tones.
Dark purple lipstick

It takes a lot of confidence to pull off a purple pout, but there’s just something so glamorous about this deep color. If you have the guts to wear this trend, try NARS Velvet Lip Pencil in Train Bleu ($24). This shade looks especially stunning on dark skin.
Emerald green polish

Emerald had been named 2013’s color of the year. The same way you saw oxblood on every clothing rack and makeup palette this winter, you’ll be seeing emerald come spring. Give yourself a strikingly vibrant manicure with Essie Nail Polish in Pretty Edgy ($8).
Rose blush

Add a natural flush to your cheeks with a soft rose blush, like CoverGirl Cheekers Blush in Brick Rose ($4).
Fuchsia lipstick

I was pretty excited to see that this color will be making a comeback this spring. Vibrant, hot pink lips are so striking on medium and dark skin tones. Try Too Faced La Crème Color Drenched Lip Cream in Fuchsia Shock ($21).
Charcoal nail polish

Gray manicures are turning to the dark side this spring with silvery gunmetal shades. Try Butter London Nail Lacquer in Chimney Sweep ($14). This deep hue looks both edgy and sophisticated.
