Avoid fashion faux pas with these 5 easy tips

There's a reason why I'm always so hesitant to wear all white. It's not that I don't like the neutral color, but  because I'm so clumsy, I'm almost certain that before the day ends I'll be sporting some nasty stains.

Well it looks like I'm not the only one that can't keep the stains away: Jennifer Lopez was recently spotted in all white outfit while attending a photo/media call in Melbourne, Australia and guess what? She had some pretty strange brown stains circling around her crotch area. Talk about a fashion mishap. From the looks of it, I'm going to guess they were coffee or tea stains.

Because of where the stains are located, I actually find this to be even more embarrassing than the nip slip she had a few months ago. But honestly, I'll be the first to admit I've been there! I can't tell you how many times I've dropped my lunch, my coffee, or a cupcake all over my lap right here at my desk. These kinds of situations can totally be avoided with just a few simple and preventative  solutions. Check out a few of my tips below to make sure you never experience a cringe-worth fashion mishap like this ever again!

Coffee or food stain solution: There's no use in crying over spilled coffee. I highly suggest carrying a stain remover pen, like Tide to Go Stain Remover Pen ($4), in your purse at all times. But if for some reason you forget and have excess to a kitchen, white vinegar mixed with some cold water is a pretty good solution for tough stains. Whatever you do, just never let a stain set. Once the stain is dry, the less chances you have of being able to remove it.

Nip slips: Just because you're wearing a backless dress, doesn't mean you can have your nips out for all the world to see. If you can't wear a bra, there are lots of products out there designed specifically for covering up. Try, Boob-eez Nipple Covers ($12). These ultra-thin silicone cups stay right in place and you can use them multiple times.

Bra snaps: I've heard of a few women who have had one of their bras straps snap while they were out. The best way to deal with this is by coming prepared and having a few safety pins and some doube-sided tape, like Hollywood's Fashion Secrets Double-Sided Tape ($9), packed in your purse. Try pinning the strap inside the bra using either the safety pins or the double-sided tape.

You got your period: Once the stain appears there's really so much you can really do. The key is to try to prevent this horrifying accident from occurring in the first place. It you have an irregular period and don't always know when to expect it, make sure to always have an extra tampon or pad in your purse just in case. A little bit of salt and cold water can effectively remove the stain, especially if the blood is still fresh.

Pit stains: Have you ever raised your arm only to find that you have mortifying sweat stains? Sometimes even the best deodorant can't prevent this. Try to stir away from non-breathable fabrics that tend to cause more sweating and instead opt for a cotton top instead. You can also try layering a think cotton cami underneath a top that would easily show sweat stains. For an easier fix, try underarm sweat pads, like Purax Pure Pads ($20). These breathable pads help to keep your armpits clean, dry and odor free.
