Don’t be afraid to rock edgy orange lips this holiday season, here’s how!

Jessica Alba__ looked super fierce at the Spike TV's Annual Video Game Awards last week wearing a figure-flattering Narciso Rodriguez LBD. But what I really loved about her look was the orangey-coral lipstick she was sporting. The bright hue added a refreshing glow to Jessica's warm, olive complexion.

As effortless as she may have looked, orange lipstick is certainly not the easiest color to pull off. The trick is to find a shade that complements your skin tone. Check out a few of my simple tips below to help you master the perfect orange pout!

Step 1: The first step is to find your color. For fair or light complexions, try a rosey/orange or coral shade, like Lancôme Rouge in Love Lipstick in Ever so Sweet ($25). For medium, olive and tan skin tones opt for a vibrant orange or melon shade that will highlight your warm undertones, like Revlon Moon Drops Lipstick in Orange Flip ($9). For dark complexions, try an orange-red shade, like Sephora Collection Color Lip Last in Orange Rocks ($12).

Step 2: Apply a hydrating lip balm, like Smith's Rosebud Salve ($6) to smooth lips and help cut down the intensity.

Step 3: For an ultra precise application, don't apply the shade straight from the tube. Instead use a small lip brush to swipe on the color.

Step 4: To prevent the color from migrating, take a concealer stick, like Avon Ideal Flawless Concealer Stick ($5) and lightly trace around the border of your lips. Clean up any smudges or mistakes using a cotton swab makeup remover, like Almay Makeup Eraser Sticks ($6).
