I love my stilettos but I'm not sure I'm willing to go through surgery just to sport them. Apparently, though, there are a number of high-heeled obsessed chicas out there that are willing to do just about anything to comfortably fit into their pumps. That includes having their toes shortened and their pinky toes altered. Can you believe that?

Some women say it's totally worth it. An example? Susan Deming, a woman who recently had her toes shortened because she found it too painful to wear stilettos, says that it was totally worth it. "I've never felt this good about something I've done. If it's vain, it's vain," she said. Toe shortening requires the removal of a bone segment in the foot, which in many cases can result in negative side effects such as toes becoming permanently scrunched up. Yikes!
In the case of the pinky tuck, the thickened skin that surrounds the pinky toe is removed and the bone many times is shaved down or straightened. But doesn't this take things a little too far? As much as I love wearing heels, is it really worth having surgery performed just for the sake of improving the appearance or size of your foot?
Well I hate to say it, but this is far from the only foot surgery women are undergoing just to make wearing sky-high pumps a more comfortable experience. Check out a few of the other uniquely bizarre procedures that are being performed all in the name of high-heels!
Pinky amputations: A growing number of women are not just altering their pinky toes, but having them removed altogether to make wearing high heels more comfortable! How crazy is that? According to the UK Daily Mail, the American College of Foot and Ankle Surgeons is trying to discourage people from getting these kinds of foot procedures done if only for cosmetic purposes, due to the strong risks they carry.
Foot padding: Also known at the foot-tuck pad augmentation, this procedure consists of collagen injections that are added to the balls of the foot that lead to extra cushioning and a more comfortable fit.
Bunion removal: This popular procedure is performed to treat large or deformed bones on the toes and foot. The surgery not only corrects the appearance of the foot but relieves pain and discomfort caused by bunions.
Foot Botox: Hyperhidrosis or excessive sweating in the feet can be treated with Botox injections. Botox paralyzes the nerve of the sweat glands in the foot, preventing them from releasing fluid.
Foot narrowing: Narrowing procedures involve removing fat seen on both sides of the foot. The foot gets squeezed in resulting in a much more narrow appearance.
Toe lengthening: Now why would someone want to make their toes LONGER? In some cases, it's because the person has Brachymetatarsia, a condition where one of the toes is drastically shorter than the others. Some women get it just because they want a more 'appealing' looking foot. The bone in the toes are cut and then stretched with an implant.
Toe Straightening: Many women with angled or curled toes request this procedure, which requires the removal of the small section of bone located near the joint.
To all these I have only one word: OUCH!
