The 5 best affordable mascaras out right now

Nothing gets me more annoyed than a mascara ad with impossibly long, fake eye lashes. I have to admit, though, I was actually kind of surprised to hear about the Natalie Portman Dior Mascaraad being banned in the U.K. for displaying lashes that were just WAY too long. I mean isn't it about time someone calls out these beauty brands on this? I can't tell you how many times I've seen a mascara ad or commercial and thought to myself, "Wait a minute, that was totally photoshopped!" Come on now, that's pretty deceiving, no?

According to Yahoo Shine, The Advertising Standards Authority (the U.K.'s independent regulatory body for truth in advertising) found that the ad employed post-production techniques to enhance Portman's lashes in a way that could mislead consumers about the efficacy of the mascara. The ad, which is for Dior's Diorshow "New Look" Mascara, is expected to appear again in a different form.

My question is: How is this Dior ad any more misleading than any other mascara ads out there? Plus, don't we all know by now that most beauty products don't usually look in real life the way they do in ads or commercials? And think about it, if makeup ads really did reflect what people REALLY looked like, would we even buy the products? Let's be real!

Either way, I can honestly say I've tried a ton of mascaras that have really done my lashes good. So whether they are photoshopped or not, I'm still buying them! The Diorshow mascaras defintely kick ass, but there are also a ton of awesome ones out there that won't hurt your pocket. Check out a few of my favorite affordable lash enhancers below!
