If you're looking to dress up your little bundle of joy in an adorably unique costume this Halloween, you might want to consider making it yourself rather than heading to your local party store. Store-bought costumes can be super cute and super convenient (as they require little to no handiwork), but they can't guarantee your baby going to really stand out from all the other little trick-or-treaters. Not really the crafty type? No worries! Check out this yummy little cookie costume from Etsy for inspiration. This simple, but clever baby cookie-and-ice-cream-sandwich costume doesn't require all that much sewing and it'll cost you little to nothing to put together.

What you need:
4 Full Sheets of 9-by-12-inch light brown wool felt
1 Full Sheet of 9-by-12-inch dark brown wool felt
Velcro tape
Tacky glue
Tan embroidery floss thread
Freezer paper
A plain white onesie
What to do:
Step 1: Start off by taking your four sheets of light brown wool felt. Cutting felt can be a challenge, especially when you're trying to cut out a circle. Not doing it correctly can leave you with a wobbly, lumpy looking shape. Instead make sure to have a very sharp pair of scissors on hand, like Fiskars Bent Razor Edge Scissors ($17). Then grab some freezer paper and trace a large circle onto the freezer paper. Iron it, shiny side down, onto your light brown felt. Now cut out your circle. The freezer paper will peel right off, leaving you with a perfectly round shape. You want to do this until you're left with four large circles.
Step 2: So that the cookies are nice and neat, you want to take these 4 felt circles and make two. Simply sew one onto the other using tan embroidery floss thread like DMC Linene Embroidery Floss in Light Tan ($5).
Step 3: Now, time to make your chocolate chips! Grab the dark brown felt and using the sharp scissors, cut out chocolate chip-shaped pieces. Remember they don't need to look perfect. Then glue them onto the light brown felt circles using a tacky glue like Aleene's Original Tacky Glue ($2). This glue works great on fabrics and dries on clear.
Step 4: Using some sticky back Velcro tape, stick the cookies onto the white onesie. Place one on the front and then one on the back. Velcro tape is ideal because it will allow you to remove the cookies from your baby whenever necessary (think diaper changes).
And that's it! Have fun making this!
