Just when I thought pastel lips were out, Salma Hayek showed up with a pretty pink pastel pout at the Saint Laurent Spring/Summer 2013 Paris Fashion Week show. What I loved most about this look, was how surprisingly good it looked with her skin tone. Who would have thought this color would work with tan skin? The pop of this bubble gum pink is a perfect way to brighten up your fall make-up.

Step 1: The first step is finding a shade that works for you. For light or fair complexions opt for a light pink pastel lip color like NARS Sheer Lipstick in Roman Holiday. If you have medium or dark skin, look for a purple-y pink lipstick like Salma's (lighter shades can look chalky). For a similar color, try MAC Lipstick in Saint Germain.
Step 2: For smooth and hydrated lips, apply a lip balm like Maybelline Baby Lips SPF 20 Lip Moisturizing Balm in Quenched. This will prevent lips from looking too frosty or feathered.
Step 3: For a neat, polished look, trace around lips using a lip liner that matches your lipstick. Then work the color onto your lips using a lipstick brush, focusing on the outer corners to create a lighter effect in the middle.
