ALMA Awards 2012: 6 Steps to get Eva Longoria’s sophisticated updo!

Some of the biggest names in Latin Hollywood showed up at the 2012 ALMA Awards(don't forget to watch the show tonight on NBC at 8 p.m.!) to celebrate some of the best in entertainment and film. Eva Longoria hosted the spectacular event, alongside actor and comedian George Lopez, for the third year  in a row.

Her red carpet updo particularly drew my interest. The elegant style was super chic and went perfectly with her sultry black Monique Lhuiller gown. L'Oréal hairstylist Marcos Carrasquillo was behind the feminine, timeless 'do. Check out a few of his tips below to recreate the look yourself!

Step 1: Begin by parting the hair to the side and distributing a defining gel, like L'Oréal Paris EverStyle Strong Hold Defining Gel throughout hair.

Step 2: Divide the hair as if you were styling it as a half up, half down, and brush the bottom half of hair into a ponytail, securing it with an elastic.

Step 3: To smooth out the parted halves, use a smoothing balm throughout the entire head. I like JOICO K-Pak Smoothing Balm.

Step 4: From there, take the top half of the hair and tease it to create volume. Then spray with a strong and flexible spray; I love DevaCurl Flexible-Hold Hair Spray.

Step 5: Take the bottom half of the hair and create a messy bun. Take the top half of hair and join it with the bottom half securing with bobby pins (front, back and side to side) to create a complete bun.

Step 6: To finish the look, spritz some more hairspray around the head, and blow-dry the hair on a low setting to tame flyaways.
