Believe it or not, rinsing your hair with booze isn't as new as you think. In fact, around the 60s and 70s it was the hottest thing in Dominican Republic. Women used to wash their hair and then apply beer (it acts like hairspray) before setting their hair in rollers. The beer worked to keep the curls in place after they dried while pumping up the shine. Check out a few tips below on how you can get your hair to reap the beer benefits!
A simple beer hair rinse: After shampooing your hair, pour room-temperature beer over damp tresses and massage it into your hair and scalp for about two minutes. Then rinse and condition as usual. It's the perfect DIY shine treatment!
Beer and honey hair mask: Take a small bowl and mash one ripe banana. Then add half a cup of flat beer and 1 tablespoon of honey to the bowl. Mix well and then apply to hair and ends, leaving it on for about 15 to 20 minutes. Wash out using a mild shampoo and condition using your favorite moisturizing conditioner. And viola smooth, silky hair!
Beer and egg mask: Blend 1 egg yolk with one ounce of flat beer and mix well. Then massage the mask onto damp hair and cover with a shower cap or plastic bag, leaving it on for about 30 minutes. Rinse out and condition as usual for sexy, voluminous hair!
