Another day, another celebrity is making the People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals (PETA) quite angry. Now, while I'm not vegan, I am DEFINITELY an animal person. I don't always agree with PETA (as I've already admitted, I still love wearing fur) but this time I think they're right on the money for attacking Brazilian supermodel Alessandra Ambrosio for dyeing her puppy's fur pink and purple. WHY would she do this, anyway?!

I will say that, when I first heard about this, I didn't think it was such a big deal. Then I saw the photos (okay, how STUPID does her dog look, really?) and read PETA's statement. I wholeheartedly agree with them. Granted, I love, love, LOVE to dye my hair but dyeing MY hair, which is my choice, isn't the same as subjecting a defenseless animal to the same ordeal—an animal who, by the way, had no say in the manner. As PETA points out:
What most people don't know is that dyeing a companion animal's fur can cause the animal stress and can lead to complications or allergic reactions that endanger the animal's health. Our dogs and cats love us regardless of how we look; why not extend the same kindness to them?

They have a VERY good point, don't they? I currently own an adorably sweet ginger cat and I have been the proud mommy of many cats and dogs in my lifetime and every one of them has loved me unconditionally. In fact, my current kitty is SUCH a little cuddle-whore that it makes me tear up to think about coloring his fur and the effect that can have on his health (both physical and mental). Seriously, Alessandra, what were you thinking?! This is a DEFINITE no-no in my (and PETA's) book.
