Ok, I have a fashion confession to make that I'm sure SO many of you chicas are guilty of too: I TOTALLY rock my man's nameplate jewelry.
But take heart, we're not alone–everyone from Selena Gomez to Kim Kardashian have been spotted lately wearing jewelry emblazoned with their man's initials. I LOVE my nameplate jewelry, both because it's a cheeky homage to the totally 80s style that I was raised on and also because of the cheesy sentimentality.
I have my own nameplate necklace and I wear it basically every day. Us Latinas have been rocking this style for decades but Carrie Bradshaw and the ladies on Sex & the City made it popular for everyone else. Plus, I regularly wear a ring with the letter "J" on it that was my husband's as a child growing up. I do this shamelessly, and so should you!
I don't really care if people think it's dumb, it makes me feel closer to my loved ones when I'm not with them. I also just think it's cute. It adds a slightly urban edge to any outfit and it also screams "I love my man and I don't care who knows it."
Immature? Maybe, but ugly–NEVER!
I don't know about you, but nameplate and initial jewelry is like a family tradition. I have a necklace but my little cousin went a little nutso a few years ago and got a ring (cute!) with her name on and then took it overboard with a necklace and earrings. I was all: "Sweetheart, I love you, but I think everyone around these parts knows your name. Like even people you don't want to!"
So, clearly there is a line that should not be crossed. Either way though, I'll always be in favor!
What do you think about nameplate jewelry? Would you wear jewelry with your man's initial or name on it?
