I__t's a rainy, humid day today where I live, and we Latinas all know what that means: frizzy, frizzy, frizzy hair!__ It's sometimes so hard to manage that I seriously consider shaving it all off. I mean, I can rock some big earrings and still look good, right?
OK, fine, maybe not the best options, especially since there are some rainy day frizz-fighters that I depend on. From my favorite leave-in conditioner to a full on replenisher, along with some keep-your-hair-healthy-and-frizz-free tips, today I'm set to conquer my unruly hair. And you can, too.
John Frieda Frizz Ease 3-Day Straight Styling Spray: When I have some time on a Monday morning, I like using this styling spray, straightening my hair and enjoying a frizz-free existence for a few days.
Garnier Fructis Smoothing Milk: One of my favorite products for when it's really humid, this "smoothing milk" is creamy and feels like a mix between a serum and conditioner, which I really love.
Keratin Complex Infusion Keratin Replenisher: Sometimes I'll have a few days of my hair looking particularly unruly, that's when I know it's time to replenish some of what it's lost with straightening.
L'Oreal Ever Pure Smooth Frizz-Ease Serum: A good, simple serum is really important to have because it leaves hair smoother and also shinier, which I often need. Plus this one makes your hair smell great.
Organix Brazilian Keratin Therapy Hydrating Masque: I aim for deep conditioning my hair once a week in order to repair the damage from straightening and blow drying, and this keratin protein blend is ideal.
It's a 10 Miracle Leave- In Conditioner: This one was recommended to me by a friend but, based on the 430 positive reviews on Amazon, I'm not the only one who's in love with this strong conditioner.
Besides using these products, though, there are a few things you can be doing to make sure your hair is as smooth as possible. First of all, it's important to deep condition it once a week. We do a lot of damage to our hair and a 5-10 minute mask once a week helps to repair brittle hair and prevent split ends. You should also work with your hair's texture as much as possible. If you have curls, don't straighten it too much because it will cause further damage. Try using curls-friendly shampoo or coarse/thick-hair shampoo if you have thick hair or a light conditioner if you have thin hair.
If you need a mid-day touch up for frizzy hair or simply don't have a product on hand, there are also a couple things you can do for a quick fix. If you're out of serum or leave-in conditioner, try wetting your hands and rubbing a tiny bit of regular body lotion, then smoothening it on your hair. For touch ups, use clear mascara to get rid of fly-aways or moisten your fingers in the middle of the day, apply a bit of conditioner on fingertips and run your hands through the unruly strands.
And don't forget the best in the bunch: when it's just not working, it's perfectly okay to put your hair up. But you don't have to go with the typical ponytail. Spice it up with a cute headband or be a little adventurous and try a fish tail braid. Whatever you do, the next rainy day will hopefully be a good hair day, too.
What is your favorite anti-frizzy hair product to use on a humid, rainy day? Do you have a favorite strategy for how to get rid of unruly hair or touch-up mid day?
