Women are putting wasp nests up their vaginas for the craziest reason

The things some women are willing to do in the name of having a "tight" and Barbie doll-looking vagina gives me nightmares. I'm talking everything from lapiaplasty (the cutting or removal of inner labia lips), to vaginal-rejuventation services like FemiLift laser. And the ladies that don't have money for expensive procedures like that, invest in treatments like vaginal steaming, vajacials (a.k.a a facial for your va-jay-jay), and DIY treatments. The latest: Shoving a wasp nest up your vag. I'm so serious. The question is: Is this even safe?

Women are really buying ground wasp nests on Etsy, shoving it up their vaginas and hoping for the best. Apparently they're doing this ridiculous holistic herbal remedy in efforts to tighten their vaginal walls.

According to the NY Daily News, these women are crushing the oak gall from these wasp nests and mixing it with ingredients like sandalwood and nutmeg, boiling it all and turning it into a "vaginal wash." They believe the galls in the wash will help "tighten" their vaginas and remove odor. How insane is this?

Common sense tells us that shoving a wasp nest up your vag is probably not a good idea. But women are still doing it, which is why gynecologist Dr. Jenn Gunter is trying to urge women to stop.

"Don't put dried up wasp's nest in your vagina," she titled a post she wrote back in May. She explains how this DIY treatment could ultimately wind up drying up the vagina and causing a ton of harm.

"Drying the vaginal mucosa increases the risk of abrasions during sex (not good) and destroys the protective mucous layer (not good). It could also wreak havoc with the good bacteria," she wrote on her blog. "In addition to causing pain during sex, it can increase the risk of HIV transmission. This is a dangerous practice with real potential harm. Here's a tip: If something burns when you apply it to the vagina, it is generally bad for the vagina."

Plus, there's no damn proof this stuff actually tightens your vag!

Leave your vagina alone. All these procedures, products and treatments only further exploit our insecurities and give in to bullsh*t beauty and sexual standards. It's time we just let our precious and powerful vaginas be.
