31 Days of Latinas losing weight: Tip #28

Happy Monday! How are you feeling after this weekend? Wasn't yesterday's tip about only doing 20 minutes of exercise a GOOD one? I mean, I barely have much more time than that! Last week I did something that was probably really crazy. I went on a juice cleanse. Well, rather, I tried to go on a juice cleanse and kind of failed. I lasted only one day and decided to quit when the first evening of my fast ended with me feeling shaky, nauseous, and insanely fatigued. It hit me out of nowhere around 6:30 p.m., and I spent the rest of the evening in bed. The next morning, I decided one day was enough.

Although it didn't work out for as long as I had hoped, I did feel pretty good through most of the day and I definitely felt well-rested the next morning, even as I went back to solid foods. The reason why I felt great, though, is probably because having one day of fasting, a day where you either don't eat or eat very little the way I did with the juice, is actually a pretty decent way to keep up with your weight loss. Then, of course, there's the research that says not eating for 12 hours (say, from 8 p.m. until 8 a.m.) allows you to burn a lot more fat. In a way, this is similar to fasting since you're making sure to avoid all food for a particular amount of time.

Is this the right option for you? Maybe. The only good option is one that you can actually stick to. I obviously couldn't stick to a juice cleanse for more than a day but I came out of it feeling better and maybe someday I would even try it again. Just be aware this is a short-term option and you should NEVER
