Montero and Fabio Melanitto made their love official and got married in December 2011. Montero is 11 years his senior, which explains why the marriage started to crumble almost immediately. Reportedly, the relationship turned rocky when Montero went to film La Isla in the Dominican Republic. She left Melanitto in charge of the house and her businesses, but he allegedly neglected his responsibilities.

Montero found out she was expecting in September 2012. She reportedly she shared the baby news to her husband over the phone. When she was just two months pregnant, Melanitto told her he wasn't ready to become a father and the couple separated.

By March 2013, Melanitto confirmed that his divorce was finalized. He also confirmed that they remained "on good terms" and agreed not to share details about their split to the media, saying only that he would take responsibility of his unborn daughter (there were rumors that he wanted nothing to do with her).
