An obese California woman weighing more than 600 pounds who was cooped up at home finally set foot outside in over seven years! The mother, who is only referred to as Bonnie, reportedly hadn't left her bed since 2009 and was under the care of her 24-year-old daughter. Years of depression kept her locked indoors, but it wasn't until now that her friends reached out to spiritual leader, Iyanla Vanzant to help the poor woman.
With the help of paramedics and a construction crew to break open a wall to transport her to the hospital, Bonnie was finally set free.

Vanzant helps people struggling with conflict in their lives noticed that Bonnie needed more than just spiritual help. The woman needed to be helped medically and taken to rehab to help her walk again. To get her out of the house was a struggle and a team of construction workers had to come and bust open her bedroom wall in order to wheel her out.
Bonnie made sure to dress up fo the occasion and when she finally got a taste of the outside world, she had her daughter, Vanzant, neighbors, friends, and family cheering her on outside. She hadn't set foot outdoors in so long that Bonnie cried, overwhelmed with emotion when she finally saw the outside. "Fresh air!" the mother exclaimed tears streaming down her face.
She appears in an episode of Iyalna: Fix My Life where footage of her first time being outdoors in so long is captured on camera. She apologizes to her loved ones for putting them through the pain of seeing her this way and finally put her health first. She was admitted to USC hospital weighing an estimated 650 pounds and couldn't even be placed on a hospital scare because of her weight. She was taken to Pasadena Meadows Nursing Center after the fact to undergo physical therapy and was placed on a resricted diet.
There is light at the end of Bonnie's story as she has reportedly lost 75 pounds, is finally able to stand up and doctors say she will be able to walk on her own in another month.
I'm glad that Bonnie is finally taking control of her life because she still has too much to live for. She has family and friends who love her and a grandson she should be enjoying right now. If she hadn't received the help she got she could easily be in a grave right now with the terrible condition she was in. It always shocks me when I hear of stories like this because I can't imagine what it must have been for her family to see her in this state. Hopefully she stays on the right track during her recovery and continues to get healthier for her own sake!
