I've never been a fan of calamari because of its texture and lets just say I'm probably never going to have it again after I heard the HORROR story Mai Liang went through.
The woman was dining with two other friends at a restaurant in Hefei, China and they were halfway through a plate of fish and calamari, when they found something NO ONE ever wants to find in their meal. No, this wasn't an insect or bug of any kind. Wait until you hear what this poor woman found in her food!

Liang says she noticed what she thought was an extra rubbery calamari in the platter, only to take a closer look and realize it really was–wait for it–a condom! As you can imagine she and her friends coiled in disgust over their discovery and brought it to the attention of the manager, Yi Ze Teng. The woman said, "It was disgusting. My first horrific thought was: Is it used?"
You would think the manager would have been apologetic and offer to not charge the women for their meal after such an incident. Teng didn't have a "The customer is always right" mentality and instead argued with the women over the condom.
Teng accused them of putting the contraception in the dish as a means to get a free meal out of the restaurant. To put a stop to their debate, the manager decided to do something that no one saw coming. She swallowed the condom to end the arguing. I repeat, she SWALLOWED IT!
The crazy woman accused Liang and her friends of making her swallow the condom in order to stop their complaining. "They said if I ate the condom, they would leave the matter, so I swallowed it," she said. The women deny Teng's accusations and say that she was difficult from the start when they told her about the discovery and that one of their friends didn't feel well.
"I think she ate the condom to prevent us going to police or the local health authorities with it. When we said we wanted compensation, she grabbed the condom and ate it," Liang said. Lawyers have become involved in this case as they plan on hashing it out in court despite the missing evidence. Well, good thing for smart phones because Liang got a snapshot of it beforehand!
It's bad enough these people found a condom in their meal, but what boggles my mind the most is that the manager swallowed it without a second thought. It sounds to me like Teng was just being a cheapskate and instead of comping their meal, she caused an even bigger scene. I don't exactly know if a condom digests in the body … but if they're willing to wait, I'm sure they can still get the evidence back. Gross! I know, but it's better than nothing!
