If you own a Graco car safety seat then you need to hear about their latest recall: 3.7 million of their car seats are being recalled because of a buckle issue. The manufacturer is voluntarily recalling the seats after it was discovered that the latching device makes it difficult to remove the child from the restraint. This is a safety hazard in the event of a car accident or other serious emergency.
The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) says the Graco is recalling 11 of its 18 models in car seats. In case you own one of these, please read on to find out what you should do!

Graco spokeperson Ashley Mowrey says that this isn't the first time they have faced this issue and that they are working to help consumers out. The issue is that the red release button can become stuck overtime if food or liquids get into it.
The Graco website lists the following models as part of the recall: The Cozy Cline, Comfort Sport, Classic Ride 50, My Ride 65, My Ride 65 with Safety Surround, My Ride 70, Size4Me 70, My Size 70, Head Wise 70 and Smart Seat. So far no injuries have been reported, but Graco does advise parents to use an alternative seat for the time being.
However the company doesn't want parents to panic and think their product is completely faulty and state that this recall doesn't affect the performance of the car seat. If you own a Graco car seat mentioned in the recall, you are advised to call the the consumer hotline at 1-800-345-4109 or the website to receive a free replacement buckle.
I'm glad that this popular baby production company is being honest with the public, but this is an error that could have been prevented. You have to assume that babies are going to spill things when they eat and drink while strapped into a car seat. Hopefully there won't be any injuries reported and Graco can fix this problem right away.
