The blessing, as they have described the moment, happened on the last day of a retreat at a Christian church that the Rodriguez family joined recently in Miami. During an energy-filled spiritual activity, Jimarys says she felt warm and knew God's presence covered her body.
The euphoria was such that Jimarys began jumping and, all of a sudden, decided the time had come to attempt walking without assistance. "Pastor Luis was holding me and I was like, 'No, no let go of me, I want to try it,' and then I think I walked 20 or 22 steps," the teen told Univision's Primer Impacto.
I've never met Jimarys, but watching the video of her taking her first steps is inspirational, no matter your spiritual beliefs. As her mother has explained, Jimarys' life has not been easy. Her disability has caused her a lot of emotional pain and suffering.
I can only imagine how exciting it must have been for Jimarys' mother to see her daughter walk all by herself. Now, the young woman who's always smiling, is convinced that lots of other good things will come her way. Among these, her dream to become a veterinarian. We wish her the best of luck!
