These days, women are getting more and more creative in documenting their pregnancy. One recent example? Buenos Aires-based photographer Sophia Starzenki decided to capture the entirety of those nine months with a series of beautiful maternity photos that she calls "Proyecto Pyokko."

The concept behind the series is straightforward: to capture the steady progression of pregnancy by showing off her growing belly. In each of the ten photos, Starzenski poses in her underwear in front of a mirror, first with a barely-there bump and eventually with her 3-month-old son, Simon. That's right, we get to meet the adorable little guy who started it all!
And he actually inspired by the project in more ways than one. The series, which she describes as "40 weeks and a mirror," actually got its title from Simon's nickname, Pyokko. Aww, so cute!
So what made Starzneski display her photos to the rest of the world? "I find pregnancy magical, so I shared it," she told MamásLatinas in an email.
And I'm glad she did! Personally, I love Starzenski's idea. I think it's such a cool and original way of documenting that special and unforgettable time in your life. Plus, the photos are absolutely stunning. I especially like that she kept it really effortless, by posing in the same manner at the same place every time. Something about their simplicity makes the pictures even more striking. But my favorite part of the photos? Getting to see little Simon at the very end!
