Pregnancy rumors swirl.
OK, so rumors are swirling that as of November 3, 2020, Chiquis is around 16 weeks pregnant and that the daddy is her husband Lorenzo Méndez. The thing is that although Chiquis and Lorenzo were married on June 29, 2019, she filed for divorce on October 19, 2020, and as far as anyone knew they were splitsville and moving on.
For a minute everyone thought Chiquis has really moved on from Lorenzo and got together with Mr. Tempo.
In September 2020, Chiquis announced that she was separating from Lorenzo. In October a video of Chiquis kissing Mexican businessman Jorge "Mr. Tempo" Cuevas surfaced and many assumed the two were dating, but according to Chiquis they were getting involved in a business relationship, not a romantic one. "It's not a relationship yet, we are getting to know each other," Chiquis said when asked about the kiss. "He is a man I really respect. I think he is really attractive, to tell the truth. He told me to my face, 'I like you.'"
On December 3, 2020, Chiquis and Lorenzo were seen together.
Supposedly Chiquis and Lorenzo were spotted eating together in El Paso, Texas, and someone went up to them and asked to take a picture with them and they didn't want to be pictured together so the person took a picture with them individually. From the photos it does appear that they are in the same eatery.
Why would Chiquis go to Texas to see Lorenzo if they are getting divorced?
An account on Instagram is claiming that Chiquis drove to El Paso, where Lorenzo was recording a video, to tell him that she was pregnant. How the source knows this is beyond us, but that's what they said and only time will tell if they are right.
When Chiquis filed for divorce she also filed a restraining order.
Further proof that Chiquis made her way to Lorenzo in Texas is a video Lorenzo posted to his Instagram Stories where you can hear someone who sounds a lot like Chiquis laughing. Chiquis going to visit Lorenzo in Texas is perplexing for many reasons, but especially since she filed a restraining order against him.
She surprised everyone when she confirmed her separation from Lorenzo.
People were surprised to hear the rumors that less than a year into their marriage, things between Lorenzo and Chiquis weren't going as well as they appeared on social media. The rumors were eventually confirmed by the couple, who said they were giving each other space. "The truth is we are giving each other some space, with respect. There is affection and love and we are married," Chiquis said Chismorreo TV in early June 2020.
When Chiquis and Lorenzo got married, it caused an altercation with the media.
The couple wanted privacy ahead of their big day, but details about their wedding began surfacing, and the press showed up. It turned ugly when members of the security team for the wedding became aggressive with the press. An El Gordo y La Flaca cameraman ended up falling over in the middle of the street.
Her wedding to Lorenzo was the talk of the town.
Chiquis and Lorenzo tied the knot in June 2019 and for the Latin community, it was as massive as any royal wedding. The couple kept cameras out of their wedding, and it was a beautiful event filled with their closest loved ones. The couple shared their wedding video in November of that year, and she looked breathtaking. The wedding was so talked-about that it was among the top 10 most searched celebrity weddings of 2019.
Chiquis had an ongoing feud with Lorenzo's ex, Claudia Galván.
Lorenzo and his ex-wife, Claudia Galván, did not have an amicable split and Chiquis has been dragged into their beef. Things only got worse between them when he began dating Chiquis in 2016. Claudia claims that she was on the road to reconciliation with Lorenzo between May and October of that year. He distanced himself from Claudia around the time that rumors began to swirl that he was dating the singer. Claudia began to speak poorly of Chiquis on social media and in interviews after Chiquis defended her man when his ex accused him of being a bad father. Things got worse between them and the battle then became a legal one when Chiquis' attorney sent Claudya a cease and desist letter.
Then there was time that Chiquis got into a heated argument with a journalist.
Mexican journalist Gustavo Adolfo Infante claimed that at a party to launch Chiquis' perfume in June 2019, members of the media were waiting for an interview with the business mogul. He claims that when Chiquis arrived, she did not give interviews and was rushed into the party. Gustavo was upset and told his audience not to buy Chiquis' perfume. She later responded, saying he basically crashed the party, as she didn't invite members of the media. Yikes!
There was also that time Chiquis documented her egg freezing process.
As someone who has been open about wanting to become a mother, Chiquis began to take the steps in making that dream a reality in February 2019 by freezing her eggs. She shared a vlog of her experience on YouTube and said she decided to take the step because of her endometriosis. "I went to see Dr. Ghadir at SCRC to start the process of freezing my eggs ! Come with me and Lorenzo as I vlog away during my doctor's visit," she captioned the video at the time.
Chiquis' singing career is always under major scrutiny.
After her mother's death, Chiquis began pursuing a singing career, which many had plenty of things to say about. Some were saying she was riding on her mother's coattails and benefiting from her mom's death to launch her career. Chiquis has spoken about people claiming she has no talent, but she has acknowledged that even if she doesn't have the best singing voice, she can hold her own on a stage.
She has had her fair share of celebrity feuds.
Chiquis also discussed some drama she was having with other celebrities in 2019, including singer Carmen Jara. She also opened up about her ongoing feud with singer Nena Guzmán, whose career people said Chiquis was sabotaging. There were rumors that Chiquis was paying radio stations to not play other women's music to stop their careers from flourishing. Chiquis denied ever doing that and said she would never spend her hard-earned money in that way, and would rather buy a purse.
She's also had quite beef with her own cousins.
A family feud reached a new low as Chiquis and her uncle Lupillo's daughters exposed the bitter details of their fight to the world. The fight was between Chiquis and her cousins Abigail and Ayana Rivera, and it was revealed that they even almost got into an altercation when Chiquis and her little sister Jenicka showed up to Abigail's home asking her to come outside so they could fight. The feud was over Lupillo Rivera, who the family accused of trying to benefit financially from his sister, Jenni Rivera's death.
Chiquis says her relationship with Ángel Del Villar caused tension with her mother.
Chiquis began seeing Ángel Del Villar in November 2011 and that's when things began to change in her relationship with her mother. Jenni didn't approve of her daughter dating the CEO of DEL Records, and Chiquis says it's because her mom didn't want her dating someone with children or anyone who worked in the music industry. The music exec and Jenni even got into a heated argument outside of an event because he was sticking up for his girlfriend at the time.
Chiquis and Jenni were not on speaking terms when Jenni died.
Jenni died in December 2012 believing that her firstborn child had an affair with her husband, Esteban Loaiza. “The world and my family lost Jenni on December 9, I lost my mother two months before on October 2,” Chiquis opened up in an interview with Azteca América. “It was a misunderstanding. My world ended on that day. Every day I have to live with this, no one knows the pain I carry, especially because it was a misunderstanding, there were so many people in the middle that caused so much pain, so many problems that it was impossible not to be upset.”
“We had no communication, absolutely nothing,” Chiquis said in 2013. “I didn’t have the opportunity to sit down with my mother and explain things. Every day I wake up and go to bed with this pain, if it weren’t for Johnny and Jenicka, I don’t know what would become of me.”
The alleged affair with her stepdad caused major strife in the family.
After a video showed Chiquis walking out of her mother's bedroom where Esteban was, Jenni believed that they had an affair. Chiquis continues to deny that anything ever happened between herself and her stepdad. “I don’t understand how the rumor got started, this horrible thing that has caused so much suffering. Loiaza has always been very respectful towards me and me with him. There were so many people filling her head with things," she told Azteca América after her mom died in a plane crash. "If there’s a problem with someone you should ask them directly, and that’s something she didn’t do. To this day, my mother, in her heart, thinks I had something with Esteban.”
Jenni kicked Chiquis out of her house after the rumor.
Despite their closeness, the rumor was heavy enough to break up their tight relationship. After Jenni asked Chiquis for space, Jenni went on to change the locks to her house and Chiquis had to move out. "They changed the codes," Chiquis once said during an interview on El Gordo y La Flaca. She also revealed Jenni took her out of her will. Chiquis was left with nothing.
