But to keep you from having to do that–no dictionary throwing when you have us!–we've put together some of our favorite baby girl names inspired by words in Spanish. This is just a start, I'm sure you could think of many more beautiful words in Spanish that could work for names.

Some of these names will give you all the feels because it's like gifting your daughter with a name that expresses what you feel, want or hope for her. These are all positive words that will give your daughter a meaningful name, rooted in our mother tongue and filled with light. A name like Soledad, while beautiful, has no place on this list of happy words. (Soledad means solitude and while it's important to have that sometimes, we wouldn't want to mark your baby girl with a name that means being alone from the day she's born.)

You'll see what we mean as soon as you start clicking through this gallery. Whether you choose a name like Alegría (happiness), Bienvenida (welcome) or Esperanza (hope), these are all words that have power and meaning. Look through the list and hopefully the names will inspire if not your soon-to-be-born's baby girl's name, at least a beginning to one of the most important decisions of your life–what to name your baby.
