Jennifer Lopez receives the 2019 CFDA Fashion Icon Award & her outfit was everything

The 2019 CFDA Fashion Awards took place on Monday, June 3, at the Brooklyn Museum in New York, and Jennifer Lopez was the guest of honor. The Second Act actress was the recipient of this year's Fashion Icon Award, and she showed up at the glamorous event looking like absolute royalty.

J.Lo stunned in a head-to-toe two-piece orange ensemble by Ralph Lauren that was an absolute dream. She wore her hair pulled up in her signature ponytail, and her glam was glowy and gorgeous, as usual. She had her fiancé Alex Rodriguez by her side, and they both looked like red carpet rock stars. The most special part of the night was definitely her speech, in which she gave a brief history of her relationship with fashion and what it means to her to be receiving this award.

J.Lo proved yet again how deserving she is of this award.

The "Medicine" singer flexed her style muscle yet again and absolutely slayed in this orange Ralph Lauren look. She chose the designer as an ode to their shared Bronx roots, and it was for sure a great choice. The long-sleeved turtleneck was covered in shiny sparkles, and Jen's incredibly toned midsection was on full display with the crop-top design. The skirt hit right at her waistline, giving us a glimpse of her enviable abs. She kept her jewelry simple with silver earrings and matching rings–including her engagement ring.

Jen shared her own pic of her outfit and looked amazing!

"Orange is the new black. ," she captioned the post on Monday. "Thankful and humbled to receive the @cfda Fashion Icon award tonight. ✨Thank you @ralphlauren for this beautiful custom look!!"

In years before, stars like Rihanna, Beyoncé, and Pharrell Williams have received the award.

Alex Rodriguez was his girl's plus one, and he looked the part.

The couple dazzled as they posed for photos outside the Brooklyn Museum. The former baseball star shared an Instagram photo from the big night with a proud message for his soon-to-be-wife. "The of my ," he captioned the cute pic. "There are icons…but there is only one Jennifer Lopez, ladies and gentlemen. #CFDA."

J.Lo also thanked her kids, Emme and Max, and Alex and his two daughters for "making her feel like the most beautiful woman in the world."

Jennifer's speech was emotional, heartfelt, and at times hilarious.

Jennifer Lopez looked back at her history with clothing and fashion and how important it has been for her to be able to express herself through fashion. She went back to her times living in the Bronx, New York, and how she evolved her style as she grew as a person and in her career. She thanked all the designers and glam people she's worked with who have embraced her and her curves through the years, and who also helped expose her to all that the fashion world has to offer.

"The girl who wanted to combine street style with couture began to blossom," she said in her speech, thanking late hairstylists Kevyn Aucoin and Oribe Canales. "They helped turned me into an around-the-way girl, to a girl who can grace magazine covers."
