Woman gives birth to twins from 2 different dads, her husband & her lover

Cheating is risky for many reasons. One major risk is for someone to get pregnant, but a woman who lives in Xiamen City, China, never imagined what her affair would lead to. The woman unknowingly got pregnant both by her husband and her lover–at the same time!

According to a Chinese newspaper, she had no clue that each one of her twins was fathered by a different man. The woman and her husband didn't find out until after the babies were born. The worst part is that her husband was quick to notice that something wasn't quite right with the babies, saying that they had different noses, eyes, and mouths.

The couple found out that the babies had different dads after a DNA test.

According to the Chinese newspaper, after the couple welcomed their kids, they went to a local police station to register the birth of their two sons. Parents are required to provide proof that the children are theirs. After a paternity test was given, the results showed that the man (who is going by the alias Xiaolong) had no biological ties to one of the babies.

The mom had to confess about the one-night stand she had during her marriage.

A director of the Fujian Zhengtai Forensic Identification Center, Ms. Zhang, informed the Chinese newspaper Strait Herald about the situation. According to the newspaper, the woman denied cheating on her husband and claimed he had falsified the results of the paternity test. She later revealed to her husband that she had a one-night stand with another man.

The woman's husband said he wasn't willing to raise the baby that wasn't his.

Xiaolong had had his own suspicions since he reportedly didn't think one of the babies looked like him and believed the twins didn't look alike, which is to be expected because they are fraternal twins. After finding out that one of the babies wasn't his, the newspaper reports that he said he was more than willing to raise his own child, but not the one his wife had with her lover.

It seems strange, but cases like these have happened in the past.

They have happened before but it is a rare occurance known as heteropaternal superfecundation. For this to happen, the woman would most likely have to have sex with two different men within a day before or after ovulation. If she has released two eggs at the same time, both of them would be fertilized. Superfecundation is so uncommon that according to The Guardian, one estimate put the liklihood of it happening at only 1 in 13,000 pairs of fraternal twins.
