We were absolutely ecstatic when we learned the news that Mexican-American actress Eva Longoria is pregnant with her first child with husband and Mexican TV exec, Jose Pepe Baston. But we were also really surprised because Eva had admitted before that having a baby wasn't exactly part of her future plans.

For years, having kids wasn’t a priority for Eva.
“I’m not one of those women who are like, ‘I must procreate,” Eva said during an appearance on Access Hollywood Live back in 2013. “I think kids are a product of love. So, if you find the right person and you want to have a family with that person, then that’s when the time is right. But … if I’m 50 and single, I’m not going to go do it myself.”
Eva did start to think more about motherhood once she turned 40.
But she was still okay with not having kids. "I just turned 40, so I have thought, 'Is time running out?'" she told PEOPLE in 2015, back when she was engaged to her now husband. “I should be thinking about [children], but I feel like my life is full."
She got really close with Pepe’s three kids from a previous marriage, A.K.A her stepchildren..
"They’ve been such a gift in my life. I don’t feel like we are lacking because we don’t have a baby," Eva told PEOPLE.
But apparently it was her relationship with her stepchildren that made Eva realize that she wanted to have a baby of her own.
"She loves kids, but it’s not something she focused on," a source told PEOPLE. "Meeting Pepe and becoming a stepmom made her more open to the idea. She loves his kids and now they’re really excited to be expanding their family.”
It looks like finding her soulmate and connecting with his kids really sparked something in her.
Last October she already sounded very open to the idea. “If it happens, it happens,” she said in an interview with Ocean Drive magazine. “If it’s meant to be, it would be a blessing.”
She clearly couldn't be happier.
Eva is already four months along with a son and we can’t wait to see that baby bump continue to grow.
