3 Tequila Halloween cocktails you didn’t know you needed

Everyone knows that Halloween is just as fun for adults, as it is for kids. In fact, hosting a Halloween-themed party for your friends (you know, after taking the kids trick-or-treating) sounds like a perfect example of adulting to me! Unlike the little ones, though, we'd definitely take a delicious, refreshing cocktail over candy. Fortunately, there are some pretty great recipes out there that don't require a talented mixologist.

A cocktail made with tequila is the kind that will go down sinisterly smooth and have people talking–in a good way, of course. I included a few creative and delicious Halloween cocktail recipes created by Masa Urushido of Saxon + Parole that you didn't know you needed.

The Texan Morgue-a-Rita: This smoky margarita is inspired by the Texas Chainsaw Massacre villain, Leatherface. It's a great drink for folks who aren't into sweet or fruity cocktails.

Here's what you need:

2 parts of Tres Agaves Blanco Tequila

¾ parts fresh lime juice

¼ part smoky simple syrup

Lava salt and died chili pepper for garnish

What to do: Start off by preparing the smoky simple syrup. Pour equal parts sugar and water into a saucepan with one dried chili pepper. Then simmer until sugar is dissolved. Remove from heat and let the mixture cool. Remove chili pepper and set syrup aside. Then shake all ingredients with ice and strain over fresh ice in rock glass. Garnish rim with lava salt and add dried chili pepper.

My mouth is watering just thinking about this drink. But wait because there's more.

Cráneo Blanco: This drink is inspired by Day of the Dead and has a subtle sweet twist.

What you need:

1 ½ parts Tres Agaves Reposado Tequilla

½ parts Mezcal

¾ part Fino Sherry

½ part pear liqueur

What to do: Stir ingredients and strain over large ice cube. Then garnish with a lemon twist.

Lemon Lime Skull Shooters: A creative take on the classic margarita and Jell-O shots.

What you need:

5 Ounces of Tres Agaves Blanco Tequilla

5 Ounces of water

5 Ounces of Tres Agaves Margarita Mix

1 Packet of Gelatin

Lemon lime rock candy for "brains" garnish

What to do: Mix all ingredients until smooth and no bubbles. Pour into a silicone mold in the shape of your choice (such as skulls). Add one sour patch kid to each mold and set in refrigerator until it becomes a gel (Gelatin is not a solid nor a liquid. It is both). The higher the alcohol, the thinner the mixture will be.

Now you're ready to get the party started!
