Johnny is the second of Jenni's children to graduate after her passing.
Jenicka, who is taking time off from her college studies, graduated on May 29, 2014. She and Johnny are La Diva de la Banda's youngest children.
Now, it's Johnny's turn.
"I did it, Momma ❤️, " he wrote on Instagram with this photo. Johnny was 11 when his mom, Jenni Rivera, died in a plane crash on December 9, 2012. Although his aunt Rosie Rivera was his legal guardian, he and his sister Jenicka were under their older sister Chiquis' care; Chiquis gained their custody in October 2014.
It's actually Chiquis who has been by his side since
And his graduation is an achievement for her as well.
"My baby boy is now a high school graduate and I couldn't be more proud," wrote Chiquis.
The proud sister wrote:
Despite how hard his life has already been at his 16 years of age, he managed to accomplish this major task in such a graceful manner. We've had our ups and downs, disagreements and share of differences, but nevertheless he has been my little life companion and I wouldn't be where I am now if it wasn't for him. So proud and honored to be your sister/mom Johnny Angel. You're a special human being and I can't wait to see what the future holds for you. Btw, your speech today blew me away! You're truly a bright young man. Momma and I did a good job, if I should say so myself! I'm more than sure she was looking down on you smiling while she said, 'That's my goddamn son!' ❤️ I love you papas!
"You have exceeded all expectations," wrote his aunt Rosie Rivera.
Tía Rosie had these moving words for Johnny:
We knew you'd graduate … But two years early? I'm in awe of you, your momma, Chiquis and your siblings who have made this happen. I'm so proud to be your tía. Please know the Lord says you have those gone before you cheering for you from Heaven. It's not just nice words… They cheer for you. Hebrews 12:1. I love you pa.
Jenicka is Jenni Rivera's youngest daughter and she shares Johnny's dad as well.
They share a special bond and her words show it. "Beyond proud and happy to see you graduate today. I cannot wait to see you grow with the whole heart and potential you have. The last baby, mom and dad are proud. I love you ❤️," she wrote on Instagram.
His brother Mikey is the father figure in his life.
His words were truly moving:
This kid here. My little brother and best friend. Words can't describe how proud you made me yesterday and everyday. Mentioning me in your graduation speech brought me to tears and even though I'm proud of how much I've influenced you to becoming the man you are, you teach me so much more about myself than I can ever teach you. You're my hero little man . Ps don't let the picture fool you, he's got like a solid 2 inches on me not counting his hair
The Rivera children have supported one another constantly.
That's one of Jenni's biggest achievements, to have created this amazing bond between her kids. It's #FamilyGoals for sure.
After graduatio, his gift was a legendary concert.
Johnny, who for a while has been considering giving music a try, went to Gloria Trevi and Alejandra Guzmán's show in L.A. Johnny called Trevi his "musical godmother". Do you think it means what I think–that he's finally launching his musical career?! Let's see!
This fan Photoshop work is so moving.
I couldn't contain the tears and I can't imagine what he would feel if he sees it. It's so beautiful, though. Jenni would have definitely been bursting with pride.
