Snooki put mascara on her 2-year-old daughter Giovanna & got blasted for it

Nicole "Snooki" Polizzi has been the latest target for mom-shamers. The former Jersey Shore star recently shared an adorable photo of her daughter Giovanna. The pic caused a stir since Nicole was putting makeup on her tot. It wasn't blush or lipstick. Snooki applied mascara on her little girl. I can totally understand why she caused a frenzy over this.

"Getting ready for her dance recital. This is the best Mother's Day gift to me!" she wrote. Snooki's daughter is only 2, which means there were plenty of comments related to Giovanna being too young to wear mascara. "Are you putting mascara on her?" asked one fan. Another wrote, "Nice that she has a dance recital but she doesn't need mascara. She's a kid!"

To me, this seems like too much too soon. There's so much pressure on young girls to look and act a certain way. You can argue that it's just mascara and makeup for a recital, but it's also so much more than that. You're teaching your child to have a certain relationship with body image and encouraging them to act older than their age.

Snooki had her own response to the haters. She wrote, in part:

So proud of my little girl! (Instead of not posting my kids for the people who respect and appreciate their photos, I will turn off the comments section. I don't need a–holes telling me how to raise my child and judge them. I'm a damn good mom and know what I'm doing. Well most of the time.) Happy Mother's Day to all you kick ass Mamas out there!

She cleared the air! All of this doesn't make Snooki a bad mother. Do I think she should be judged for it? Well, we all secretly judge people (not just moms) for things they share on social media. I don't think she should be shamed, but I do think that we can all do better and not treat our little girls like mini-mes and dolls all of the time.

Our little girls deserve much more than that.
