People are now using iPhones to blend their makeup & it’s gross

I'm convinced at this point that there isn't a single item that can't be used in achieving a flawless makeup application. Seriously, we've seen it all–from hardboiled eggs, bra inserts, tampons and even condoms! The latest hack, though, is so insane it had me cringing in my seat. Makeup artists and beauty bloggers have started using the back of their iPhones instead of a palette to blend their foundations. Seriously, what's next?

More from MamásLatinas: You can legit grow a plant on your nails & you have to see this trend

You read right. People are flipping over their iPhones to use the back as a palette for blending and customizing their foundation. It's cray! Aspiring makeup artist 15-year-old Jake Warden filmed an IG video of himself straight up squirting foundation all over the back of his rose gold iPhone. He then blotted his Beautyblender in it before applying the makeup to his face. I get anxiety just looking at this.

Teen Vogue wanted to pass the trend as just a "silly teen thing" after seeing Jake's video, but apparently he's not the only one doing this. Other makeup artists and beauty bloggers including Kiki of @spottedstyleblog have also tried out the hack. She received so many negative replies regarding hygiene she had to turn off her comments. She also posted an updated caption letting her haters know to stay off.

"You guys are taking this too seriously. This video is just for fun! If you leave hate comments you will be blocked and reported. My phone was clean prior to making this video," she wrote.

Listen, I'm all for innovative beauty hacks but this one makes absolutely no sense. I already get stressed out just thinking about anything spilling on my iPhone. So why in the world would I want to intentionally squirt liquid foundation on it? Secondly, I have to agree with some of Kiki's commenters in that our cell phones can be pretty darn dirty.

"We touch them all day, throw them on the ground, have them in our bags. They're just extensively exposed to the environment, so that makes for a fair amount of bacterial growth," Dr. Michelle Barron told Refinery29

But if you absolutely HAVE to try this trend, I suggest you wipe off your phone with an anti-bacterial wipe beforehand.
