I've been on a serious mission to get my heat-damaged strands back to a healthy state. I'm talking deep conditioning masks every week, monthly trims, sulfate-free products and I NEVER style my damaged curls straight without using a heat-protective spray. All of that is useless, if I'm not filling my diet with vitamin-rich foods that help promote a healthier head of hair.

So I started including foods that are high in antioxidants, protein and omega-3 fatty acids into my meals, like blueberries, salmon, and kale. But then I realized I was missing out on these foods during breakfast time. I figured why not just put all these super foods into one awesome breakfast smoothie (not the salmon of coarse)? My hair been thanking me ever since!
Not only is it significantly stronger, shinier and softer, but I'm convinced that it's speeded up my hair growth. My natural curls are almost down to my shoulders and my hair feels thicker, too. The best part is, this smoothie hasn't just helped my hair but my skin has a youthful glow.

What you need:
1 cup of water or light almond milk
3 leaves of kale
3-4 leaves of spinach
3 leaves of chard
4-5 frozen strawberries
About 10 raspberries
10 blueberries
1 sliced up banana
1 tablespoon of chia seeds.
What to do:
1. I add all the chopped fruits and greens to my blender first. Then I pour in a cup of almond milk because it's high in protein and calcium, but you can use water if you'd like for a lower calorie option.
2. I let it all blend then pour it into a tall glass. Then I add a tablespoon of chia seeds, stir and let them sit for about 10 minutes or until the seeds become gel-like.
3. Then I drink it!
I try making this every morning for breakfast. Trust me–after a few weeks you'll notice a difference!
