Jessica Alba
You don’t have to be friends with your kids: Alba believes that part of having your kid respect you means dumping the bestie behavior with your child. “Enforcing the rules means that sometimes I’m not my kids’ favorite person and that’s okay. Respect for boundaries and good behavior go hand-in-hand,” she says.
Nely Galán
Do your research: The businesswoman and founder of Galán Entertainment encourages women to be smart about their business ventures. "If you have a business idea, you have to make sure that what you’re thinking about doing can make money. We often have ideas and really haven’t figured out if it’s something people want," the Cuban entrepreneur explained.
Jennifer Lopez
Invest in yourself: Multimillionaire and mogul J.Lo knows a thing or two about multitasking. The Bronx native advises women to take time for themselves so they can complete all the day's to-dos. She tells moms, "When you look good, you feel good. When you feel good, you are a better person and parent."
Pegine Echevarria
Don't be afraid to ask for help: Pegine is the owner of her own consulting firm Team Pegine, Inc., which is now a multi-million dollar company. She believes Latinas need to be okay with reaching out for support. "In Hispanic culture we're taught to keep your mouth shut, don’t let the neighbors know, don't tell your problems to other people, but what you want to do is ask for support and help to solve the problems," she says.
La La Anthony
Freestyling motherhood is okay: Author, mother and owner of her own makeup line Motives for La La, reveals that sometimes you have to leave people’s advice at the door. She confesses, "Tips are great but as a mom you have to find your way and figure it out."
Salma Hayek
Karma is key: As the owner of the CVS beauty brand Nuance, Hayek isn't shy about giving her best business advice–for free. She previously told Marie Claire, "If you stick around long enough, act out of conviction, and try to be honorable in everything you do, good things will come to you. I have seen karma work in this business." Wise words!
Gloria Estefan
Be persistent: The Cuban singer is also the owner of several Cuban-themed restaurants in Miami Beach. Estefan’s best advice: "Stick to your guns. Don't let anybody tell you no. You have to persevere. If one door closes you have to find another way."
