7 Reasons it rocks to be an older mamá

Ooooh, I just found out some pretty fascinating info about older moms. A new study from Boston University School of Medicine found that moms who give birth at an older age may live longer. Say what?

Of data studied from 462 women it was found that women who gave birth to their last child after the age of 33 were twice as likely to live to the age of 95 than women who gave birth to their last child by the age of 29. It's probably because if women are having children naturally at an older age it means their reproductive systems are aging well, which probably means the rest of them is aging pretty well too. Researchers do have a warning though.

Thomas Perls, director of the New England Centenarian Study at Boston Medical Center and a professor of medicine at Boston University says, "It's really important that people understand that they should not purposely try to delay having a kid with the idea that they might help them age well."

I'm doing a happy dance over here since I gave birth to my second and presumably last child at the age of 39. Woo hoo, this motivates me to stay healthy and fit 'cause my chances of being around for a long time seem to be pretty good.

Now, I'm no scientist or anything, but being an older mom, I can attest to the fact that there are other reasons why it rocks to be an older mom and I will happily share them with you!

I don't feel like I'm missing out on ANYTHING. Bars, concerts, parties, I've had my fill. Staying home with my kids does not make me feel like I'm missing out on anything I haven't already done.

I'm getting older, but I'm super excited about life. I was a kid, then I was an adult for a long time, then I had a kids. Having kids has made me see life through a child's eyes again and appreciate how truly funny something like a milk mustache is.

When my daughters are old enough to get their periods, I probably won't have mine anymore. We won't all sync cycles and fight over chocolate and sanitary supplies.

I'm not in a hurry. I've had time, lots of time to myself, now the time I spend with my children I savor.

When my daughters get really into shopping at thrift stores and want to go segundiando, I'll qualify for senior discounts at some of them.

I know who I am and what's really important to me. I feel much more centered than I did when I was younger. I'm not as obsessed with every single one of my flaws as I used to be. My daughters will never hear me ask if my ass looks big in a pair of jeans. They will hear me talk about how awesome it is that my body was able to produce them though.
