As women and the pressure placed on us by society, we want the most toned stomach possible and unfortunately it is usually much easier said than done. I know this is generally my problem area and I have to make a concious effort to keep things in check, but sometimes it can be an idication of something more.

Below are some of the sneaky reasons you may not be losing that belly flab.

Check your age: If you notice that it takes you a while to lose weight now compared to when you were in your 20s, age may be the reason you can't get rid of that pudge. As you get older your metabolic rate changes which means your body slows down and unfortunately for women that extra fat piles up around the waistline.

Too much cardio: If you hit up the ellipitical or bike everytime you are at the gym, it can only do so much. Instead try walking over to the weights after your cardio workout which help you build your muscle mass and in part help you burn more fat.

Watch your salt intake: Too much salt in your system can bloat you but can be easily remedied by drinking more water throughout the day.

Underlying health condition: Sometimes we may have health conditions that we are unaware of that can affect our hormones and how we process fat. Have a full body check up to make sure you don't have any health problems that may be affecting your weight loss goals.

You're not eating enough of the right foods: Cut back on refined carbs, and eat good fats such as avocados, nuts, and especially protein to keep you full and reduce body fat. Studies have shown that the more protein you consume that the greater your chances of losing weight are.
