I try to live a relatively healthy lifestyle and that includes remaining active by going to the gym. But to be honest, there are days when I don't feel up for a sweat session and would rather just veg out on my couch. Chances are you are guilty of skipping out on the gym too and then end up kicking yourself the next day for not doing so.
However, there is an upside to this which makes it PERFECTLY fine to not hit the gym today!

Now I'm not saying you should use "excuses" everytime you don't feel like going to the gym, but there are exceptions you can make. This especially applies if you have an injury that you need to be careful with.
If you aren't suffering from an injury then this list is for you. Sometimes we need a break from exercising and if you've had a perfect healthy week, then you deserve it! Check out the other instances that give you a free pass to miss out on some gym time.
You are super sore: If you worked out really hard the day before and are sore to the point you cant lift your arms, then give yourself a break. The last thing you want to do is overtrain and risk injuring yourself by working out.
You're sick: If you think you are coming down with a cold or the flu, it is best to let your body rest. Bringing your germs to the gym can not only get other people sick, but make your symptoms much worse.
You exercise outdoors: With the warmer weather on our heels, I prefer going for a jog or doing other outdoor activities as opposed to spending time in the gym. Instead of being indoors, go to the park with your kids and get a workout in that way.
You've been physical all day: If you've been doing housework, yardwork, or walking all day, you can skip the gym. That type of activity burns calories on its own which gives you that extra leeway.
You're pregnant: Exercising during pregnancy is good for the mom-to-be if it is done right. However if you are feeling the dreaded morning sickness, exhaustion or other uncomfortable pregnancy symptoms, you can take a day off from the gym. This is especially important if you are already at risk of certain complications. As with any exercise program, it's best to consult with your doctor first.
